Seyed,
owner of Ferdussi Restaurant has received his Masters
Degree in management from University of New Hampshire
and has been in restaurant business for last 21 years. Before
he started his own business, he worked for many international
and national restaurant chains and held positions as regional
manager and district manager. He is considered one of the
pioneers and founders of Persian Cuisine in America.
The
staff at Ferdussi Restaurant are well trained by Seyed himself
and he spends a great deal of his time to make sure everyone
at his restaurant keeps up with the standards he has set for
them.
As
a teenager when I came to America I notice that how much Americans
like my Persian cooking. I was always asked by my professors
and coaches to prepare something from Persian Cuisine, they
were fascinated by the flavor and the healthy approaches. I
have to admit the first American tried my cooking was my long
time roommate John; he was all around American boy and
nothing would make him happier than giving him hot dogs and
beans. After being roommate for about four years and a summer
trip to Persia, he wanted to change his name to Ali Baba. John
was my first customer in America and today I have thousands of
royal customers which visit my restaurant regularly.
Everything
at Ferdussi Restaurant is designed to look first class. The
impressive menus look more like album cover, and dinning room
has a classic air to it. Servers look snappy in tuxedo shirts,
bow ties and colorful paisley vests.
I
have noticed during my lunch that most of the customers wait
to shake hand with me on their way out and thank me for
the fantastic food and service they received.
Persian
food is one of the wonderfully realized cuisines, passed down
generations for thousands of years. It is full of fresh
ingredients and herbs, giving the food a rich flavor that is
neither overly spiced nor bland but distinctive in its own
right.
Ferdussi Restaurant
has been awarded many times, nationally and locally.
Southern
California Restaurant writers for past three years have voted
Ferdussi as the award-winning restaurant.
Fresh
seafood dipped in Saffron sauce, tender lamb, beef and filet
mignon marinated in onion juice and herbs, chicken dishes are
cooked in imported lemon juice and Saffron sauce are some of
the items on the Menu. All entrees are cooked on open flame as
the fat burns away. Healthy dinning picked Ferdussi as
their favorite restaurant in Taste of Orange County 1995.
Basmati rice is the specialty of the house, Albaloo Powlo
(sour cherry rice), Adas Polow (raisins and lentils rice),
Shirin Polow (orange peel and almond rice) and more.
